Thank you. The Jonas Brothers are making my age group a discrace. Adults assume we have no idea who The Beatles are! That I would ever call them "old"!

I see a strong resemblance between Tammy and Sarah Palin. Just wait. 10-15 years from now Sarah will be the spitting image.

I'd rather have Elwood as president as well, though not Dan Aykroyd. John Belushi, maybe, but Jake? He would be a shoe-in. But you can't have it both ways Melissa. A Jake/Elwood administration, while surely liberal on social issues, would still be the first all-catholic administration. And those catholic christian ideals that Curtis taught them as young orphans would surely lead them to good in God's name, wouldn't they?

It is not new. It it not the last time this tactic will be employed. It is a cheap trick - always was, always will be. It is swaying the moronic masses by injecting them with the cardinal fears and destiny - wrath, retribution, cosmic will, faith, fate.

But do not mistake the word of man for the word of God. If I say I am for Steve, it does not mean I am not a self-serving bastard only looking after my own interests. And if I can convince just a few people that Steve is a swell guy, they'd feel righteous indignation on Steve's behalf - fighting for Steve wherever his interests might be at stake. Just because I say I am something, does not mean I am.

Look at my t-shirt, it reads "I am cool". Well, am I?

Maybe the GOP could develop a new talking point: McCain/Palin, taking the country back 500 years. Now that's change you can believe in, my friends!

Excellent analysis. Thanks!

Kinda scary when Palin mixes war with God's will.
I don't know about her god, but mine said
"Hammer your swords into plowshares."

Right on Melissa. I would add to your comparison of their ages that while the ages seem relatively similar at both band's beginning, The Beatles spent three years or so playing squalid venues in seedy cities before they became famous. This period refined them as musicians and exposed them to the real world of dank streets and (literally) whores, and this turned out to be fine inspiration for their later work. And unfortunately I must remind you that the recognition that The Beatles' music "(w)as the epitome of its time" as you wrote did not occur until some time had elapsed. Sadly, The Jonas Brothers' music may well be just that. Then again, we won't know for a while, will we? Thank heaven for retrospection.
